What is root canal therapy?
Root canal therapy is the removal of a tooth’s pulp from the center of the tooth. The space is then cleaned and sealed. In many cases, root canal therapy can save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
When is root canal therapy needed?
When a tooth has a deep infection, root canal therapy in Renton, Washington, may be the best option. Damage to a tooth’s dental pulp can occur because of an injury or because of a cavity that went untreated and became severe.
What should I expect during treatment?
First, a local anesthetic will be used to numb the area. Then Dr. Kevin Huynh will make an access hole in the tooth so that the infected pulp can be removed. The pulp and any debris will be carefully removed through this hole by our doctor. The inside of the tooth will be thoroughly cleaned. Then the area will be filled with gutta percha and the access hole will be closed with a filling. In many cases, a dental crown will be placed to protect and support the tooth.
